RE: Rule cleanup in response to SB 2042
The legislature recently passed SB 2042, which eliminates the term "custody" in the family law context and replaces it with "parenting." Sherry Mills Moore of the Custody and Visitation Task Force has requested that the Committee consider several rule amendments that would bring the procedural rules in line with the new statutory terminology.
The proposed amendments are attached. The statutory amendments will take effect August
1, so if the Committee accepts the proposed rule amendments, it may wish to consider
whether they should be presented to the Supreme Court immediately as an emergency
measure.
