SYNOPSIS OF AMENDMENTS AS ADOPTED
A. North Dakota Rules of Civil Procedure
Rule 51 - Instructions to Jury
The language and organization of the rule is amended to make the rule more understandable. New language clarifies the procedure for requesting instructions and for objecting to court action on instructions and requests.

B. North Dakota Rules of Criminal Procedure
Rule 46 - Release from Custody
Subdivision (d), a redundant provision on amendment of release conditions, is deleted.
C. North Dakota Rules of Evidence
Rule 608 - Evidence of Character and Conduct of Witness
The rule is amended to substitute the term "character for truthfulness" for the term "credibility" in the rule.
D. North Dakota Rules of Court
A new subdivision (i) is added to prescribe measures to protect personal information in pleadings and documents filed with the court. The rule is also amended to clarify the procedure for filing documents.
The explanatory note is updated and expanded to more fully illuminate the rule.
This rule is repealed because it is no longer needed due to the overhaul of N.D.R.Civ.P. 53.
Rule 8.10 - Extraordinary Writs
A new rule clarifying the procedure to be used in applying for writs is adopted.
E. North Dakota Supreme Court Administrative Rules
This rule is amended to give magistrates the power to issue domestic violence protection orders and disorderly conduct restraining orders.
Rule 41 - Access to Judicial Records
This rule is amended in tandem with N.D.R.Ct. 3.1 to prescribe measures to protect personal information in pleadings and papers filed with the court.
