COURT TECHNOLOGY COMMITTEE Staff Justice Sandstrom called the meeting to order. The minutes of the previous meeting were approved with corrections on pages 2 and 3. Help desk statistics For informational purposes, Kurt provided a report of help desk calls received by district. Data warehouse demonstration Kurt Schmidt and James Vollmer provided an update and review of the data warehouse web-based transactions. Generally speaking, the group seemed to like the possibilities of making this data available to court employees via a web browser, but voiced concerns about data security and other issues. This initial phase of the data warehouse is to be completed by June 30. It will develop three deliverables: 1) Web-based calendar inquiry; 2) Web-based reports; 3) Web-based contact card search. Phase one also will also create a solid foundation to build upon in the future. Based on successful completion of this phase, a second phase of the data warehouse project is expected to be undertaken in the 2001 - 2003 biennium to expand the web-based capabilities. The web site address will be provided to committee members as soon as the deliverables are ready to be reviewed. Credit Card Usage Pilot Kurt expressed concern about the credit card pilot proposed by the finance department. His concerns included the possibility that the pilot project may not represent what a long term solution may require. The group suggested Kurt review the possibilities and if necessary, present any problem to the committee at their next meeting. UCIS expansion plans Kurt presented a draft concept for expansion of UCIS: 5 counties per year. The group felt the concept was not aggressive enough. Ted Gladden moved that 10 counties be added to UCIS by September 2002 and that the future expansion be re-evaluated at that time. The selection of the 10 counties is to be based on filings not including administrative traffic. Becky Absey second the motion. Kurt mentioned that this would be a deviation from the method used in the past. Previous expansion has based on total filings including administrative traffic. It was pointed out that these 10 counties do not include Cass county integration efforts. THE MOTION CARRIED Kurt will develop and implement the plan fulfill the motion. Grand Forks, SAMS and UCIS update Kurt provided an update regarding integration of Grand Forks UCIS and SAMS. Software to facilitate replication of data has been purchased and installed. Currently, efforts to configure the software and integrate Grand Forks are ongoing. It is estimated to be done in June or July, however, it could be delayed if cabling or other unanticipated problems are encountered. Municipal Court Update Kurt provided an update. Inclusion of 4 municipal courts into the statewide UCIS database is complete. The 4 municipalities are Minot, Jamestown, Mandan and Bismarck. There have been inquires from several other municipalities. The first step for integration is for the municipality to establish a network connection to the state network, something they may be unable or reluctant to do, given the cost. At this time, no other municipalities are actively being added to UCIS. Others may be added as and when appropriate. PCSS and UCIS update Justice Sandstrom briefly summarized a letter sent to Cass County on behalf of the Supreme Court. Paraphrased, it stated in part, that the decision to move forward with option 2 of the Enterprise Solutions Report has been made and that Kurt would begin efforts towards implementation of that option after the start of the 2001 - 2003 biennium. Protection Order Project Kurt and Ted discussed the Protection Order Project. The goal of the project is to provide full text of the protection orders to Law Enforcement. A workgroup of the interested parties has been formed and has met to discuss possibilities. Interest in pursuing this project is seems to be very high, especially within law enforcement. ITV project in Jamestown Discussions within SEJD regarding adding an ITV system in Jamestown are currently underway. If the decision is to proceed, the unit from Morton County may be moved to Jamestown. The meeting adjourned.
